The Consorzio Forestale della Valvestino (Valvestino Forestry Association) is private-law entity working in
the public interest.
It was set up on 27 December 2000 and its members include the town councils of Valvestino,
Magasa, Capovalle and Treviso Bresciano, with the participation of the Comunità Montana Alto Garda Bresciano
and the Comunità Montana Valsabbia, together with private owners of silviculture/grazing land and
environment-related companies.
In July 2001 it was officially recognised by the Lombardy Regional Parliament.
The Consorzio works to implement the aims of its charter: to develop farming/silviculture/grazing, to manage
environmental resources, to create new jobs and promote ecotourism.
Therefore, using its own workforce and in
partnership with its farmer-members or woodland companies, the Consorzio works to conserve, defend and enhance
forestry, livestock and agricultural resources.
It monitors ground-water resources, repairs and maintains
streams and rivers, repairs the tracks and trails etc. used for agricultural, silviculture or grazing
activities, and it promotes the improvement and enhancement of the lowland and mountain pastures.
In addition
to working directly on the land, the Consorzio can initiate ventures in the fields of nature research,
experimentation, information and education.
